This individual The OSP Engineer performs detailed outside plant facility engineering tasks that includes estimating, analyzing, designing, planning, budget tracking estimates against actual costs for copper and fiber cables, poles, direct buried and conduit systemsThis position is responsible for preparing and interpreting engineering plans, drawings and reports; prepare loop loss design for load and repeater electronics, plan and design field mounted switch serving areas, perform pole, conduit and buried facility design measurements to support company and industry OSP design standards and economic feasibility studiesThis position is responsible for specific job budget development and trackingThis position is responsible for periodic job inspections and quality controlPerforms duties such as collecting field data, preparing/organizing permit packages for submittal to the appropriate entities, maintaining complex files, keeping records, searching, and investigating information contained in files, processing departmental documents requiring specific knowledge of functional operations, posting records including accounting and continuing property records, typing correspondence and reports from rough drafts, and assisting engineers as requestedResponsible to understand and design network elements providing Fiber to the Home, Copper DSL, Metro-E Ethernet, TDM, Sonet, and fiber solutionsAs such they will be required to interface with multiple groups and collaborate on intra- and inter-state designs for implementationThey will be expected to write projects implementing a solution and have a working knowledge of the equipment used to provide answers to questions regarding installation and function of the equipment when being placed in-serviceThey will also be required to understand circuit design, functionality of these devices and will be expected to understand and work in the system used for this purposeThis position will work with local retail, wholesale, and municipalities regularly
Qualifications:
o Ability to identify existing voice/data plant, electric, and other utilities on the site plans as well as in the field o Ability to indicate existing voice/data plant location and relocate facilities and knowledge of obtaining right of ways and easements where required o Must have experience managing other OSP Engineers and reviewing/correcting their projects o Expert in obtaining right of ways and easements where required o Must be capable of engineering routine and specific COE/OSP work orders, including more complex projects including road moves oMust have expert knowledge of COE/OSP principles, work order procedures, voice/data industry standards, PC applications, and COE/OSP record and/or computer aided drafting systems oMust have own tools such as a measuring wheel, height stock, pull finder, laptop, etcoExperience with the local networks oAbility to perform quality control on engineering work for other members of the teamExperience/Understanding with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) for engineering requirementsThank you for your interest in MOUNTAIN, LTDFor more career opportunities, please visit us at www.mountainltd.com M4 Recommended Skills Cad Electronics Ethernet Quality Management Retailing Service Delivery Apply to this job.
